Joe Drake joined the Mims Lab in Fall of 2021. He is interested in the intersection of landscape connectivity and population dynamics, bringing conservation, management, and spatial ecological theory into more holistic approaches. He received his PhD (2021) at UMass - Amherst and his M.Sc (2016) from Texas Tech University.
Fascinated by complicated and intractable problems, Joe’s work is driven by developing practical and pragmatic solutions to evo-ecological quandaries. As well, he hopes to help drive the development of ecological theory that is pertinent to evolving spatiotemporal shifts in management needs. He believes that working with multiple stakeholders throughout the research process is essential to develop solutions for critical socio-ecological conservation issues. Active engagement allows for critical and diverse voices to be heard and respected.
