Dr. You’s research program focuses on how agricultural management practices (e.g., nitrogen fertilization, cover cropping, tillage, irrigation, and crop rotation) interact with environmental factors to shape the productivity, resilience, and sustainability of agroecosystems. His work explores these dynamics under multiple stressors, including climate change, elevated CO₂, nitrogen deposition, ozone pollution, land use change, and extreme events such as droughts and heatwaves. By integrating process-based agroecosystem modeling, remote sensing, machine learning, and field observations, Dr. You develops science-based strategies and decision-support tools that guide management practices to enhance productivity while reducing soil degradation, yield instability, water pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions.
