Amir is a Ph.D. student at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences (BMVS) in Dr. Ryan Calder’s lab. His main areas of interest include public health, environmental health, and policy. Currently, he is a graduate research assistant for Dr. Calder, addressing environmental questions pertaining to the local and global consequences of decarbonization.

He received a first-class honours degree in environmental engineering from the University of Melbourne before joining Dr. Calder’s lab. In his master’s research, he integrated artificial intelligence and machine learning in a virtual energy assessment that yielded promising results. Those results were published in this article.

Amir hopes that by participating in the Interfaces of Global Change IGEP, he will broaden his outreach and network as well as help Virginia Tech to become a more collaborative environment.
